The initiative supported more than 700,000 families and 11,000 worlds, food aid locally and internationally. As part of its global humanitarian efforts, the Bank distributed 378,240 meals abroad. Within the VAE it collaborated with the national initiative to reduce food loss and waste, ‘Ne’ma’ to offer more than 8,000 meals to the world through the ‘N’Ma Community Fridges’ initiative, in addition to 3000 meals spread under the ‘Zabeel IFART’ campaign.
A total of 200 strategic partners from the public and private sectors – including hotels, restaurants and food companies – contribute to the success of the initiative. More than 1,000 voluntary support the logistics activities of the bank and the efforts for meal distribution. In addition, 48 Awareness programs were organized throughout the Emirate to emphasize best practices in collecting, reducing and redistributing excess food.

Positive impact
As part of its environmental efforts, the VAE -Foodbank successfully distracted more than 917 tonnes of food from landfill -a performance that reduced more than 2.3 million kg of carbon dioxide emissions, the equivalent of the preservation of more than 97,000 trees. In collaboration with ‘Ne’ma’, the bank has also recycled more than 335,000 kg of food waste from participating hotels and converted into 50,366 kg organic fertilizer.
Cooperation agreements
In order to support its objectives in the long term and to increase its impact, the VAE-Foodselbank 12 new agreements and memoranda of underestimating government entities, partners in the private sector, humanitarian organisms and branches in the food industry.
The ‘United in Give’ initiative is part of the wider mission of the VAE Food Bank to promote substantial excess food management and reduces food loss and waste.
