Among the directors of his Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice -President and Prime Minister of the VAE and ruler of Dubai, Dubai Humanitarian has sent a sea shipment of critical assistance to Myanmar in response to the devastating earthquake in the country.
Organized in collaboration with the High Commissioner of the United Nations for Refugees (UNHCR), the shipment left the port of Jebel Ali and is currently on the way to Yangon. The assistance includes more than 167 tonnes of essential exemption such as tarpaulines, kitchen sets, solar lamps and buckets, aimed at supporting nearly 80,000 people affected by the disaster.
Giuseppe Saba, CEO and Board Meber of Dubai Humanitarian, said: “Every shipment that we facilitate not only bears stocks, but a message of solidarity. Moments of crisis are not just about how fast we respond, but how consistently we are at communities in need. This marks the first of two planned shipments by sea and two aircraft that we facilitated last month.
The Global Humanitarian Impact Fund (GHIF) completely covered the transport costs of shipping, so that international aid partners can be extended to reach and undergo their activities in response to evolving humanitaria.
