First, what’s with the name?
[Laughs] Krumm is named after my cats, Kitty and Crumpet. Every time I rolled out my mat, they would stretch with me – so they claim part of the brand!
Tell us about the inspiration to start your brand?
I started with Krump because I was frustrated by poor accessories that did not last. Grip socks were grip, breaking tires, single weights that were rubbed. I decreased to create products that were still but still sustainable – grabbed that actually gripping, tires that do not slip, and single weights that feel just as the look.
How does Krump stand out in the wellness market?
We combine aesthetics with function and give priority to sustainability. Our accessories use recycled materials where, even in the package. With more than 10 years in the industry, I carefully design every piece, they are both stylish and well performing.
What is it about creating the perfect Pilates accessory?
It all starts with the feeling – if it is unknown, you will not use it. We have tested countless samples to perfect the grip of our mats, the fit of ankle weights and the balance between stretch and strength. Each Kripp piece is refined Unantil, it meets our high standards.
What challenges have you confronted with and how did you conquer them?
The construction of Krump has been an adventure! Purchasing quality material, managing suppliers and dealing with marketing were all learning curves. We refused to cut the corners, especially with durability. Research, patience and trust experts helped us navigate obstacles. We have embraced every challenge, has been honest about what we can and cannot do – and have borrowed our faith in experts when needed. It is ok to admit that you cannot do everything – and we have learned that there is always a solution, whatever happens.
The Pilates community in the VAE is growing rapidly. What are your favorite studios?
I have to be biased and a few studios that I work on! In Dubai, CIMA (JVC) distinguishes itself because of its narcotic space and dive class offers, while Revive (JGE) is known for its intense, RES-PROPERED Workauts led by exceptional trainers. In Abu Dhabi, Bateen Ladies Club van Matcha offers the Ultimate Pilates experience with a beautiful on the beach, and Bodytree is a go-t for expert instruction and conscious movement.
What is the next step for Krump? Is there a large launch on the horizon?
