Aaron Boupendza Dies at 28 After Tragic Fall in China

Gabon’s international, Aaron Boupendza, has tragically died at the age of 28 after falling from the 11th floor of a building in China.

The Gabon Football Federation confirmed Boupendza on Wednesday, who had recently joined the Chinese team of the Zhejiang Super League of Rapid Bucharest, was found dead after the fall. The circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation.

“Aaron Boupendza, 28, left an indelible brand in the 2022 Africa Cup,” said the Federation of Gabones in a statement.

“Trained in CF Mounana and Bordeaux, she went up through the ranks and continued her career in Europe, the Middle East and the United States before arriving in China.”

Aaron Boupendza obtained 35 caps for Gabon since his debut in 2016, scoring eight goals for his country and participating in multiple AFCon campaigns.

Taxes have already reached fans and football players equally, with the former national teammate and Captain of Gabones, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, publishing a sincere message on Instagram: “I don’t have the words. Rest in peace, my brother.”

Gabon’s midfielder, Mario Lemina, also expressed his pain, writing: “Rest in La Paz Aaron. So talented, so cheerful. Allah relieves the hearts of your family and those who really wanted the best for you. We are all responsible today.”

The president of Gabonese, Brice Oligui Nguema, also issued a statement that cries the death of the striker: “With great sadness I learned of the tragic death of Aaron Boupendza, a talented front center that brought Honoure to the Gabones family”

The former Boupendza FC Cincinnati club, where he played the 2023/24 season, also paid tribute: “We are sad to listen to the tragic death of the former forward of FC Cincinnati Aaron Boupendza. Ohy to the Faminnati Famny family, friends and teammates.”

Boupendza began his professional career in France with Bordeaux, before growing at prominence with Hatherayspor in the Super Light Turkish, where he was among the best scorers in the League. His career then took him to Qatar and the United States, where he impressed at FC Cincinnati, and finally to China.

Previously at the beginning of the current season, the striker signed with the Giants of Cairo, Zamalek, before making a controversial change and signing for the Rapid Bucharest Intead Club.
