As LPG-1 drugs continue to answer the conversation about weight loss, plastic arrows increasingly investigate how tohele treatments fit in long-term aesthetic care. In this interview, Johnny Franco, MD, shares a plastic Arvembo-certified plastic Arvembo, how his own journey of weight loss the development of a tailor-made, wellness-oriented GLP-1 program at Austin Plastic arises. His approach emphasizes medical supervision, patient education and regular follow-up puffing of a potential model for aesthetic surgeons who want to expand to this emerging space.

Johnny Franco, MD

Plastic surgery practice: You are known for following a very adapted, hands-on approach to LP-1 treatments. What inspired you to take this route instead of the more traditional model with recipe only?

Johnny Franco, MD: At Austin, plastic originated, we have unveiled a unique and deeply personal approach to weight loss. A large part of it comes from my own journey that has been on LP-1 drugs and has lost more than 90 Pounts in the last 3 years. For me it was never just about getting a recipe. It was about making lifestyle changes, undergoing medical evaluations and to incorporate wellness treatments to improve my overall health. That personal translation our program. The goal is not only a number on the scale – Tor is to help patients live longer and to live better. There are many factors that go in wellness, and we have kept great pride of our patients through every step of that trip.

PSP: Weekly patient control are a cornerstone of your method. Regarding those Appaintments usually, and how do they help improve the results of the patient?

Franc: We usually see patients once a month, which finds a good balance between accountability and flexibility for their lifestyle. Our providers are always available between visits or support, but these regular check-ins help us build an adapted plan and through the guide guidance patients. We have initiated that plan, it takes time to successfully implement it and make adjustments if necessary. As we have evolved, we have seen that long-term sub-patients can stay on LP-1 drugs, depending on their goals and medical indications. For those who have lifted a stable condition, we can ultimately stretch checks until every 3 months and possibly longer in the future. It’s all about adjusting the follow -up to every patient’s journey.

PSP: What are the most common challenges that patients are confronted in your experience when starting GLP-1 therapy, and how do you help them to navigate those obstacles in real time?

Franc: LPG-1 medicines have been game changers in terms of well-being and lifetime, but like every treatment, success comes down to setting the right expectations. Not everyone answers in the same way, and that’s okay. In the past, people were in a hurry to lose weight, but now know that a steady, structured approach leads to better results. Patient tea does the best when they gradually lose weight, giving them time to adjust their habits, retain muscle mass and to increase the activities. We have learned that guiding patients with realistic milestones, continuous support and education helps them not only stay with treatment, but also thrive on them. And while newer medicines continue to roll out, we expect that journey will be stuff.

PSP: For plastic surgeons that can be considered to offer LP-1 treatments in their practices, which systems or protocols would you recommend that they are set to achieve consistent monitoring and patient support?

Franc: Integrating LP -1s or wellness programs in an aesthetic practice starts with mindset shift -it is not just about writing recruitments; It is about delivery to program. You must determine what that patient trip looks like in your practice. This includes creating treatment protocols, legal care and FDA compliance and the installation of systems for regular monitoring. This is not a one-size-fits-altop solution. LPG-1’s are one of the most transforming medicines I have seen in my career, but they are not the correct answer for every patient. Successful program Look at the whole picture – lifestyle, medical history, goals – and help patients navigate with every step of their wellness trip.

PSP: As patients are lost with GLP-1 therapy, what role can plastic surgeons play in supporting their transformation through procedures or deputy service?

Franc: Plastic arises in a unique position to support that are being patient while transforming, especially because many of them are new to aesthetics. LPG-1 drugs change lives, but with that weight loss new aesthetic concers things such as skin laxity, volume loss and skin quality changes. It is important to inform patients about what to expect and which treatments are available. These patients do not know which options exist, so it is up to us – to experts – to guide them and to give access to treatments that match how well they feel on the inside.

PSP: looking ahead, how do you see LPG-1 treatments that match the broader continuum of care in aesthetic medicine and what role do you think that plastic plstic surgeons should play in managing this evolving patient population?

Franc: LPG-1’s become an essential part of aesthic medicine. We already see large companies investing in versions of the next generation of first medicines, and that is just the beginning. In our practice we have come up with an expression – the “ozempification of aesthetics” – we see young patients with adult concers, loss of face in the face for the laxity of the skin. As a plastic arguos, we have the responsibility to help for patients completing their transformation not only by helping them look good, but by making aesthetic plans that match their new lifestyle in the long term. This is a new kind of patient and a lifelong chance for providers who are ready to guide them. PSP
