In a groundbreaking moment for the VAE Badminton, Taabia Omar and MySha Omar will represent the United Arab Emirates at the BWF World Championships 2025 in Paris, which marks the historical debut of the nation at the most prestigious annual event of the sport. The championship takes place in the iconic Adidas Arena from 25 to 31 August.
This milestone not only places the VAE on the Global Badminton card, but also feeds the dreams of playing players in the Emirates, whereby the growing fame of the sport in the region is underlined.
Rising stars from the VAE
Taabia Omar, 19 years old, is already a name to take into account, after he has become the world no. 1 in women’s doubles and arranged in 2nd place in mixed doubles on the BWF World Junior Ranking.
MySha Omar, her younger sister who turns 17 later this year, was previously ranked in World No. 10 in women’s singles and women’s doubles (with Taabia). She claimed international appliance in 2024 by winning the title of the girls singles on the All-England Junior Championships, a breakthrough performance after her earlier Dobles victories.
Path to Paris
Both sisters are products from the Badminton High Performance department, led by performance director Michael Norbek. Their daily training takes place at Battledore Sports Academy, Dubai, under the expert coaching of Alfaz Kalam. Their journey reflects the progressive vision of the VAE Badminton Federation that includes Embario Inclusive and enables resident athletes to achieve international success and at the same time represent the nation.

Final with the preparations underway, Taabia and MySha are set for competence between the elite of the world in Paris.
