Back in the heyday of my youth I would have cupcakes for breakfast in Walt Disney World. I have always justified this to Sarah by saying that it was “for research” and that there was much reader in cupcakes within. There is no shortage of dad jokes in our old travel reports about calories that do not count on vacation or cupcakes such as the breakfast of rope trap champions.
That I am older, wiser and more refined, I don’t eat cupcakes for breakfast. Especially because in my opinion Walt Disney World’s Cupcake game peaked ten years ago and has really lost weight since then. Fast-forward to today, and when Sarah is nearby, we do shopping episode. I eat a plan for Greek yogurt, carts and other nutrients for nutrients. ” Posts like this.))
If she is not in the neighborhood, I still eat a sub of that healthy stuff, but supplement with leftovers that I take home from bakeries in the parks. For research. It is sufficient to say that in recent years I have done an extensive research into Karamell-Küche and Les Halles Boulangerie-Patiam. (Results are unfinished and still in the exploratory phase, so further testing is needed -planned publication date is currently 2029. Think that the progress of the Disney Construction is faster than the subject!) Anyway, there is a new option such as this in the offer of Magic King Kingdom. Decadent “meal” with the potential for leftovers and a house area …
This meal is found deeply in New Fantasyland (Is it more than 10 years old now just Fantasyland now?) at Gaston’s tavern. For me, the story of Gaston’s Tavern is largely one of Squandred potential. It is substandard in relation to the question, with a fraction of the seats it actually needs. This is double where our guest restaurant is now table service all day, and Gaston’s Tavern is the de facto counter service restaurant in non-so-new Fantasyland.
Nevertheless, I have always held on to a certain preference for Gastons Taverne. The theme -design is flawless, so that the location gets the picturesque village feeling, and the details that the tavern pouring are fun and brutal. Everything, from the lighting to the incomplete game of arrows between Gaston and Lefou to Gaston’s prize heads on the walls Work.
The results are a perfectly executive theme, and a location where it is fun to get stuck and enjoy the ambiance. Gaston’s Tavern answers the question: “How many antlers in all decorating are too many antlers?” Difficult with “no!” ((Yes, I know it wasn’t a yes or no question. The answer is.)
Gaston’s Tavern is cozy and intimate, an anti -graduate for the many Covernous Counter -Service -Service Restaurants with large rooms and minimalist design that Disney has done you in recent years. The problem is that this intimacy account is applied via substandard seats, in contrast to imaginers who work EY magic to break the space and make a larger location feel smaller.
Almost ten years later, imagineering has good with Gastons Taverne in Tokyo Disneyland, which turns the needle perfectly to size, scale and atmosphere. Oh and the menu has fantastic guilty pleasures. (Japan also got the much better Beast’s Castle, a full-size version complete with one of the best journeys on the planet.)
But I wander. The reason why we are here today is that Scholaue has extended his menu, and now (Argulay) qualifies itself as a current counter service Inseratis -Inserad of a lean snack spot. Let’s look …
Let’s start with the savory item: Ham and Gruyère cake made with a crispy croissant dough with ham and gruyere and served with a bag of chips. This dish currently costs $ 9.49.
It may not look much, but this cake from Ham and Gruyère is easy to send flatbread. Similar to what is served around the Bles, his Pinocchio Village Haus, but substantial and better. Remove unexpectedly, it is one of my new favorite Savy items in Magic Kingdom.
Where this cake excels is the crust. It is soft, buttery, flaky and delicate. It is reminiscent of the subject of the French pavilion in Epcot in contrast to Magic Kingdom. In short, the antithesis of the bargain boxes of the flatbreads Pinocchio serves. Vary from fit for one Beauty and the beast Inspired restaurant.
The molten Gruyère on top is creamy and cheesy and the perfect topping for the pastry bakers. The ham is certainly not quality on the same foot with the cheese and crust, but it adds a much needed taste to the dish, giving it a little more dimension. My biggest complaint is that it is fairly light – so is the nature of those delicate pastry bakers – and not particularly filling for the price.
It is also disappointing to have the cake of the ham and the Gruyère served with a normal ole bag of chips. The dish itself hits me more gastronomically, while combining ready-made chips is a thoughtless touch. To be honest, I would rather pay more for home -made chips or less for no side at all. Still a dish that I would recommend, just not the best value for goat (also Probabry not divisible unless a smaller snack).
The next is the tried and tested cupcake of Gray Stuff, a chocolate cupcake garnished with “The Gray Stuff” and crispy pearls for $ 5.99.
The gray things in principle taste such as cookies and cream, but that is a simplification. Although I think cupcakes have been poured and simplified at Walt Disney World over the years, this is an exception to that rule. There are perhaps 3 cupcakes that I had regularly recommended in the Parks & Resorts, and the Gray Stuff Cupcake is one of them.
The quality is high, the taste is fantastic it is just a good called, albeit simply dessert. There is also something to say for eating an iconic range of the film Beauty and the Beast. If you have the gray stuff cupcake earlier, or only for different gray things, I would recommend to a try.
Regarding an even more imonic breakfast dessert, there is the warm cinnamon role for $ 6.99.
I remember the one-two-punch in 2012 when Starbucks was canceled as taking over the Main Street Bakery; Then Disney reveals the menu for Gastons Tavern, and that the gigantic cinnamon rolls would go back to New Fantasyland. Fans absolutely lost their mind. It was just like the OG ‘Ohana Emergency, but if the noodles were moved to Kona Cafe instead of completely retiring.
Our perspective was that fans responded exaggerated to the relocation of the cinnamon role. That the ‘stacked’ about Starbucks in combination with disappointment that Gastons Taverne was not bigger and more ambitious. What difference did it make if the cinnamon rolls were served in the front or back of the park? It turns out that one Big difference. To be honest, great phone call from the haters – they were right.
Ordering Cinnamon Roll from Gaston’s Tavern is a low bet game of Russian roulette with your belly. You might have made a freshly made that is gloriously sticky and soft, or one that has been dried under a heat lamp for centuries, is paved and tastes musty.
I get why Walt Disney World fans love the warm cinnamon role, but you have to be careful when you order them later in the day if they are more likely to be hardened for hours under the heat lamp. The person we received on this day was about 7/10 on the Frisness scale, which is good according to the standards of Gaston. I’ve had worse.
Furthermore, I don’t think much of an overview is needed. You have had Probony rather cinnamon rolls, and at their best this is a larger and more wonderful version thereof. Personally, I don’t think the Gaston’s tavern is better than the kind that I can make myself from the freezer at Trader Joe’s, but they are addictively good …If they are good. Not recommended, unless tasting the iconic snacks is a must-do, in which case you have to come to Gaston in the morning.
The best store for the last time, there is the crème brûlée croissant, which consists of crispy croissant dough filled with vanilla bean custard for $ 5.49.
This puppy is fantastic. It is again a wonderful desert, with caramelization on top that is sweet and somewhat charred before you make room for a pastry that is the right balance of Daughy and downy, soft and closed.
That is all finished by the vanilla bean custard inside. It is a glorious mess that can best be eaten, with a knife and fork. Try not to eat this while you are on the road, unless you want a mess over your hands, shirt, and so on.
In short, the crème brûlée croissant is all the warm cinnamon role Should have to Are. This is sweet and sugary to the point that you will feel it in your teeth, but it is not one-note.
There is just enough variety in the flavors and textures to give the nuance, making it addicted to good and a desert that is clear – ti lets me subject to Magic Kingdom, not submissive here or from the Frieza Asole of the trader Joe.
I split this crème brûlée croissant with two friends and would also recommend – I could also see that half eat in the park and bring the other half back to the hotel for breakfast the next day. When I am the hand to update your list of the Best snacks in Magic KingdomThis will make the cuts. I could even take on the cake of Ham and Gruyère, in the absence of savory options.
Ultimately, the extensive menu in Gaston’s tavern has two items that we love, another that is Vray Good, and one that can be very good under the right circumstances. When it comes to Magic Kingdom, the worst food park in Walt Disney World, everything is rated on a curve and this combination makes Gastons Taverne recommended with reservations.
The most important reservation is that we do not (still) recommend Gaston’s Tavern for your main meals in Magic Kingdom. As you can probably collect for yourself, this will not be a suitable lunch or dinner unless you Real In holiday mode and subcutaneous on sweet treats. In that case, my younger person tips his hat to you. Enjoy it before father catches up your time and turns his cruel hand on your metabolism.
Gaston’s Tavern remains a glorified snack place, but one that still has the potential for greatness as a fully-fledged restaurant for counter-service alles what it takes is that glorious pors Shank return! But for breakfast after a satisfactory rope, or as a ‘supplement’ for healthy and nutrients food (via shopping delivery), or as a fourth meal? There is an overview for the current menu in Gaston’s Tavern, and it is back on my “list” of places to eat regularly in Magic Kingdom. ((Note of the editors: the Royal “We” is used this post, while in fact this is only the opinion of the author.))
