According to reports, Salah is closer to extending his contract with the Reds, with a growing optimism in the club that the Egyptian will stay in Anfield.

The progress in the conversations by contract with the captain of the Virgil Van Dijk club has given Liverpool a renewed confidence that an agreement with Mohamed Salah is also within reach. Both players, along with Trent Alexander-Arnold, are currently in the last year of their contracts.

Despite stopping in the negotiations on the salary and the duration of the contract, Liverpool has hoped that Salah, 32, would continue its remarkable eight -year trip with the club. That belief now seems founded, since the sources close to the club suggest that an agreement is close.

Salah has been in an outstanding way this season under the new chief coach Arne Slot, contributing 32 goals and 22 assists in all competitions, directly involved in 54 goals in total. The Egyptian has long expressed his desire to remain in the club, where he has already consolidated his status of the greats of all Liverpool.

Although Salah has previously expressed a certain frustration with the slow rhythm of negotiations, the report indicates that the two parties are now close to finishing the terms. Liverpool sports director, Richard Hughes, has led conversations with Salah agent, Ramy Abbas Issa.

Van Dijk, 33, confirmed after the 3-2 defeat of Liverpool against Fulham last weekend that “progress” had been made in his own contract discussions. Meanwhile, Alexander-Arnold’s future remains uncertain, with reports that link the right side with a possible movement with Real Madrid.

As the slots begin to shape its plans for the next season, it is considered that Salah is a central figure in the Dutch plans. The club is anxious to tie it in the midst of the interest of Saudi Pro League clubs.

With its current form making it a main contender for the player of the year of the Premier League, an extension of the contract would be a great impulse for Liverpool.
